Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar is the largest casual dining concept in America, both in number of restaurants and market share. As of March 2004, there were over 1,600 Applebee’s restaurants, of which roughly 1,200 were operated by franchisees and 400 by the company. Applebee’s estimates the development potential of the concept to be at least 2,300 restaurants domestically.
